The collection presents reconstructions of shoes and other leather accessories documented exclusively by archaeological discoveries. Each object is the result of research done on original fragments recovered through archeology. Since 1993, this didactical collection grows at the same time as the new developments in research.
This museum serves as a tribute to the neighbourhood’s past, specifically related to the centuries-long leather manufacturing which has now ceased to exist. The museum collection includes over 400 items, among which are shoes, leather cases, money purses, bags, and tools used for making them.
These artefacts are the result of research conducted using archaeological findings and the tour of the exhibition - conducted by knowledgeable experts - gives visitors the opportunity to not only observe, but also to physically examine and touch the items collected over the past 25 years.
